Driving Test

Anyone taking a driving test in Liverpool will have two options. Usually people who live in South-Liverpool tend to go to Speke Driving Test Centre and people who live in the North of the city, tend to go to Norris Green Driving Test Centre.

Speke Driving Test Centre

If you’re taking a driving test at Speke, we would recommend getting plenty of practice driving around Speke, Garston, Mossley Hill, Allerton, Woolton, Aiburth, Halewood and Hunts Cross. Making sure you feel confident with some of the tricky junctions around these key areas should increase your chances of passing on your first attempt.

Below is the latest stats recoreded by the DVSA for all practical driving tests taken at Speke in 2018 compared to the National average of driving tests taken over the same period.

Current Pass Rate Speke
Speke 33%
National Avg 47%

Night time driving, driving in the city centre and Motorway driving will not be covered at Speke, or Norris Green’s test routes. At Evolution we will include these topics and more, to give you confidence not just for the driving test but also life beyond it too.

Norris Green Test Centre

Statistically Norris Green appears to be the easier Centre of the two to take a Driving Test. We would recommend you treat these Stats with a pinch of salt, as when I first started out as a driving instructor in 2006, Norris Green’s pass rate was lower than Speke’s for a quite a few years. So have an open mind that these stats will change every year they’re recorded.

Current Pass Rate Norris Green
Norris Green 42%

Norris Green Test Centre should not be under estimated either and you should give it the same preperation as you would when taking a driving test at Speke. The key areas we would recommend you focus on when taking a test here are: Norris Green, Aintree, Knowsley Village, Croxteth, West Derby, Tuebrook, Anfield, Walton, Bootle, Orrel Park and Fazakerley.
